Delaware Pounds Drexel, Sets Sights On Liberty

2009-11-10

After two convincing wins against the Dragons, UD is off to Lynchburg, VA

"Drexel always plays us tough and it's usually a close game," said Head Coach Mike DeAngelis prior to last Friday night's game against the ESCHL opponent.

That didn't happen.

No. 9 Delaware (9-3, 6-2 ESCHL) shut out the Dragons (4-8-1, 0-6 ESCHL) Friday night at home 7-0.  Kurt Pflumm and Coty Wilkerson combined in the effort making a total of 18 saves, and  Kyle Curley notched two goals.

"I wanted to make sure we had no let up," DeAngelis said going into Saturday's rematch in Philadelphia. "We saw Penn State take them lightly in their second game and they squeaked by with a one goal win."

Delaware surely didn't take them lightly, erupting for 12 goals on the night.  Connor Moore and Andre Menard both had two goals and every defenseman for UD registered a point.  S.J. Broadt and Nick Casella split the duties in goal to give UD its ninth win on the season, and sixth ESCHL victory.

UD travels to Lynchburg, VA this weekend to face No. 3 Liberty University.  With a couple of wins against the Flames Delaware can climb right back up the rankings.
