UD Hockey to supports Childhood Cancer research

The University of Delaware men's hockey teams participated in the 5th Annual CureSearch Cancer Walk to benefit Childhood Cancer research Saturday, Sept. 22nd at the Wilmington Riverfront.

UD Hockey walked in support of "Team Brett". Brett Land, age 3, was diagnosed with Pre-T-Cell Leukemia in December of 2010, and since then has undergone chemotherapy, a bone marrow transplant, and full radiation to combat this disease. Brett is currently in remission from this disease but continues weekly treatments and monitoring.

The Land family has a unique connection to UD Hockey as Brett's father, Jason, works as a school teacher alongside Assistant Coach Jesse McNulty at William Penn High School in New Castle, Delaware.

CureSearch for Children’s Cancer is a national non-profit foundation whose mission is to fund and support children’s cancer research and provide information and resources to all those affected by children’s cancer. CureSearch raises funds for promising research conducted at more than 175 hospitals across the nation. These hospitals participate in National Cancer Institute sponsored clinical trials conducted by the Children’s Oncology Group.
